Orb raises $25M Series B
Today, we announced our $25M Series B funding round to further our mission to transform billing for every software company, bringing the total we’ve raised to $44M. Read more on TechCrunch.
First, I want to thank our customers. Your trust and partnership have shaped Orb into a world-class product and driven our ability to grow as quickly as we have—we’ve tripled the size of our customer base since the start of 2024, supporting AI-native startups as well as established enterprises. This momentum has quickly established Orb as the leading usage-based billing solution for software companies.
We set out to be the first company to build billing infrastructure truly with a developer lens. Because of this, we’ve been able to work with innovative companies that make the choice to focus on growing their business, not on managing in-house billing systems. Whether you're evolving pricing and shipping new AI products like Vercel, innovating on serverless architecture like Pinecone, or running best-in-class inference models like Perplexity, Orb helps accelerate these outcomes dramatically.
Every major computing platform shift has disrupted the software business model — from license-based pricing in the PC era to subscription-based models in the early cloud and SaaS days. With the rise of GenAI, we're moving towards granular usage-based and outcome-based pricing. But there's a problem: legacy billing systems can't keep up. Companies are struggling to align their pricing with the value they deliver, and they're forced to pour engineering resources into billing instead of into core product innovation.
This isn't just a passing trend; it's a fundamental shift and challenge affecting every software business. We hear it from our customers every day.
That’s why we’ve built the billing infrastructure to enable this shift at Orb. Our new approach unifies billing and data in a single platform, enabling companies to rapidly evolve their pricing. When pricing models change, everything changes — from how accounting teams recognize revenue, to how finance teams do forecasting, and the nature of sales team compensation. That's why we've made Orb a single source of truth for all teams involved in the revenue lifecycle, capturing the full journey from usage events to recognized revenue.
None of this would be possible without our incredible team. Every day I'm inspired by our customer centricity, sense of urgency, ownership, and attention to detail. Looking ahead, we'll use our Series B funding to push our mission forward and give every business the tools to evolve their pricing as quickly as they innovate on their products.
Thanks to all of you for being part of our story. We're excited to see what we'll build together.
Want to never work on billing again? Try Orb for free. Want to work on billing every day? We’re hiring.
